HEALTH PORTFOLIO (H-Portfolio)

H-Asset: Intestinal Wealth

The intestines are the Central Bank of our body. Even the brain, the Fed Chair, could not function without the nutrients that are processed through the intestines. Rebalancing your H-Portfolio might be necessary if you are not getting a good return on your h-investment. Our intestinal wealth will support us now and through all phases of our life.

Review of the H-Investments

Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV)

My H-Investment: 1 teaspoon of unrefined, unfiltered, raw, and organic ACV; 1-2 times a day in a small amount of herbal tea before meals.

History of this H-Investment: This H-Investment has been around since 400 B.C. and even the Father of Medicine, Hippocrates, used ACV for his health.

Self-Massage to Stomach:

Stomach massage

My H-Investment: 1 massage (or as needed) to my stomach for 2-3 minutes a day.  Start at about 4 finger widths below the belly button, using firm but gentle pressure. Massage area in small circles and move around the belly button clockwise. I have found that this h-investment has paid me more dividends in my h-portfolio than any other investment. This single handedly relieved my gas and bloating and improved my digestion when I had ulcerative colitis.

History of this H-Investment: Using touch as a healing method derives from techniques rooted in ancient history. The earliest written records of using massage were discovered in Egypt and China, dating to between 3000 and 2500 BC. Buddhists viewed touch and massage as essential to their spiritual and wellness training.

Ginger

My H-Investment: Ginger is used in a variety of foods and products including capsules, tea, candy, and chocolate bars. I take 1-2 capsules of ginger root a day with food and/or drink 2-3 cups of ginger herbal tea each day.

History of this H-Investment: The use of ginger dates back more than 5000 years in its use as a tonic root to treat many ailments. Ginger was exported from India to the Roman Empire 2000 years ago, where it was especially valued for medicinal purposes.

Probiotics

My H-Investment: Probiotics are in a wide variety of products, including pills, fermented foods, yogurts, chocolate, powders, and chocolate bars. I take 1-2 capsules a day, 1 hour before breakfast. I drink kefir or eat goat milk yogurt each day.

History of this H-Investment: Ilya Metchnikoff won the Nobel prize in 1908 for his work on immunity and was the first individual to recognize probiotics benefits. He linked regular consumption of lactic acid bacteria (now known as probiotics) in fermented dairy products to health and longevity in Bulgarian peasants. In 1965 the word probiotic began to be used, but it wasn’t until the 1980s that probiotics again came under study for their benefits in immunity and intestinal (health). The World Health Organization officially recognized the word probiotics and acknowledged their benefits in 2001.
