Fund Your Health (Part 3) by Dr. Lisa Williams

HEALTH PORTFOLIO (H-Portfolio)

Health = Wealth

H-Asset: Family Wealth

H-Investment: Discretionary H-Fund

Here is another very wise H-Investment that improves your overall health and wealth. Here is my H=W (Health = Wealth) formula: In finance, there are emergency funds as well as discretionary funds. As far as discretionary H-Expense, these costs are not considered essential. However, putting money into a non-emergency H-Fund proactively, and deciding where and when to spend it, might put more money in your pocket over the long haul. These types of H-Expenses could range from something very small to something very big.

Which discretionary H-Investment do you want to fund first? I believe working on your strengths first pays off, because you already feel some enjoyment in those activities.

Yes, it costs money, but as mentioned in my previous Fund Your Health Series, reducing the astronomical cost of cardiovascular treatments warrants this sort of H-Investment because our current path of $33 billion on strokes, and $207 billion on heart disease will far exceed the cost of prevention. According to the National Commission on Prevention Priorities, preventive services not only save lives, but also save money. Such measures could save nearly two million lives and nearly $4 billion dollars a year!

I cannot express the importance of building an H-Portfolio that includes this important H-Investment. This is just one more way to pay your health forward by adding smart H-Investments to your and your family’s H-Portfolio. It is never too early or too late to invest in your health.
